Welcome to the largest online Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) course in the world!
Learn both basic and advanced DBS programming through various real clinical cases, with a focus on precision medicine and the use of neuroimaging.
If you are a Neurologist, Neurosurgeon, or a healthcare professional who treats patients with DBS in your daily practice, this course is for you.
Parkinson’s &
Dystonias &
Essential Tremor
In the CBA DBS course, you will learn, through clinical cases, everything about Deep Brain Stimulation therapy focused on movement disorders: refinement of surgical indications, the neurologist’s role in the intraoperative setting, 3D reconstruction of electrodes (classes on Lead-DBS and the Stimviem platform), initial and advanced programming, and troubleshooting.
This course is designed for Neurologists and Neurosurgeons who are beginning to work with DBS therapy, as well as for professionals who already have experience in the field and seek to improve, refine, and optimize their knowledge.
All classes are taught by Professor Rubens Cury, neurologist specialized in DBS and Movement Disorders.
Prof. Rubens Cury, MD, PhD, is a neurologist and a movement disorders specialist. He has been working and teaching DBS for many years and is currently the coordinator of the DBS clinic at the University of São Paulo, School of Medicine, and the co-chair of the Neuromodulation for Gait Study of Groups, from the Movement Disorders Society. He holds a PhD in sciences at the University of São Paulo and a postdoctoral degree in DBS in Parkinson’s disease, dystonia, and tremor.
The course content is based on the patient’s journey (focusing on Parkinson’s disease) from preoperative evaluation to advanced programming. It is divided into the following modules:
Overview of planning, clinical tests in the surgical center, microrecording, macrostimulation.
Step-by-step of Lead-DBS and Stimview – Brainlab.
Abbott, Boston Scientific, and Medtronic.
Various illustrative clinical cases, tips, and challenges.
Clinical cases illustrating chronic stimulation management. Customization of electric current, complex VTA adjustments, and gait-based programming.
How to systematize management in patients with dyskinesias, dysarthria, or postoperative impulsivity.
How I indicate and program DBS in dystonias and tremors through clinical cases.
Stay up-to-date with new content and updates in the CBA DBS course.
The course will be periodically updated with new extra content on DBS: updates on programming platforms, management of programming based on gait analysis, asymmetric stimulation, fine-tuning of pulse width and frequency, advanced details in neuroimaging interpretation, electrophysiology, and Brainsense therapy, concepts on closed-loop, among others.
Upon purchasing the course, you will receive a login and password for immediate access to all content through the Hotmart platform.
The content will be available to enrolled students for 12 months. At the end of this period, if the student wishes to renew their subscription, they can do so through the platform.
Questions about the lessons can be posted directly on the platform (there is a specific section for each lesson). Professor Rubens will respond to them.
When new material or a lesson is posted, the student will be notified via email.
